Make Your Mobile App Better with Geofencing
We have the opportunity to work with churches around the country who are passionate and creative about how mobile fits into their overall mission. It’s great to see the unique ways our church partners use their apps to engage their congregations.
But sometimes our churches use our apps in ways we haven’t ever considered. One of our church partners, Restore Community Church in Kansas City, decided to put a twist on using group notifications and geofencing.
Every year the church does a campaign called “Replenish” designed to get school supplies to underprivileged kids in their community. They pass out bags to their members and encourage them to pick up supplies when they’re grocery shopping.
After the congregation gets their bags, they send out push notifications, reminding everyone to buy supplies.
But they take it one step further by setting up geofences around stores like Target, Walmart, and Kmart. Then when one of their members visits their stores, an alert would pop up reminding them to buy supplies.
